Winter White Denim

I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some white denim, although I must admit a part of me always fears putting them on and knowing something will mark them up! (echemm puppies, I'm lookin' at you) but there is something so effortless and clean when it comes to white jeans, that even my crazy little pups cant stop me from rockin' them!

There are tons of denim brands out there, but one of my absolute favorite brands for jeans is J Brand. They have ENDLESS styles and their denim is always of the best quality. The pair I decided to go for were the Maria High-Rise in Blanc. I chose these for a couple reasons: Number one, they were SUCH A GOOD DEAL at Bloomingdales. They had a promotion for a while where ALL of their white denim was $99.00, so knowing how pricey J Brand can be, I decided it was a great opportunity to splurge. Number two: I love the fit and feel of the Maria. I am a big fan of high-rise everything (always in crop tops!) so for me, getting high-rise style was a no brainer, but J Brand also does white denim in mid and low-rise as you can see here and here

For this outfit I decided to go for a sweet and simple look. I tend to go a little crazy with layers, so sometimes I like to try and tone it down and refine my outfits. I thought the crisp whiteness of the denim would pair nicely with my embellished pastel sweater c/o Fevrie, which you can find here! I absolutely adore this sweater and the neck detailing they have added to it. It creates a complete and put together look, and you don't even need to accessorize! Multiple times people have thought the neck detailing on the sweater was a separate chain-link necklace, and were pleasantly surprised to discover it is a part of the sweater! I love wearing pieces that excite and inspire people, and this is definitely one of them.

Lastly, for the shoes I decided to amp it up with my Ivanka Trump strappy pumps also from Bloomies! I originally got these to wear to my cousin's wedding, but they are great for sprucing up a more casual outfit. I sometimes struggle when pairing shoes with white denim, as the contrast can be very strong, but I think the delicate nude color of these heels compliments the subtlety of the white and pastel tones within the outfit.

Hope you like!

Musings From Maui

Hello, all!

Finally writing a blog post about my trip to Maui!!! Such an amazing, relaxing experience. I went with my gianttttt extended family on my mom's side, and it was so fun to be there with my whole family and my cousin's new babies! So cute seeing them play by the beach and enjoy the sunshine.

For this trip we stayed at my absolute favorite hotel on the Hawaiian islands, the Fairmont Kea Lani. Upon arriving we are greeted with beautiful aromatic flower leis and guava juice! The ultimate vacation starter :P

For this trip I knew I'd be spending tons of time at the beach, so I made sure to bring A LOT of books..maybe went a little overboard  (brought 8!) but I ended up getting reading 4 1/2 awesome novels: Mother Night and Slapstick by Kurt Vonnegut, a mystery novel called the ABC Murders by Agatha Cristie, a dark thriller called The Dinner by Herman Koch, and partially through a Pulitzer Price winner, The Goldfinch, by Donna Tartt (still reading now!). One of my favorite things to do was read on the beach while watching the glorious Hawaiian sunsets. Every night there they seemed to get more and more beautiful!

We spent time hanging at the beach and the pool eating delish meals and sipping on outrageously yummy smoothies, but we also went on some great outings! We went on hikes and walks, visited a dairy farm called Surfing Goat Dairy (and got to try some AMAZING cheeses and play with the goats) as well as some visits to a beer brewery and vodka distillery! However one of my favorite outings was to a town called Paia, with tons of cute shops and restaurants. I got a b-e-autiful top from a local designer named Tamara Catz.

Although I've been super excited for the fall weather to finally hit Los Angeles, I loved making outfits for this Maui trip! Tropical destinations always call for fun prints, and flowy, easy outfits. And there's always the perk of getting some sun! I've grown up in Los Angeles, but somehow have remained a vampire, so it was wonderful to lay out in the sun and get some Vitamin D!

I splurged a little before the trip and got some items that I knew would be perfect! I have been recently obsessing over Faithfull the Brand, and decided to get two pieces from them:

shop the looks:

I'm completely in love with these pieces! I love the lace-up top because I was able to wear it both as a tunic over my bathing suits as well as with my jean shorts. Can't wait to style more outfits with this top! And for the off-the-shoulder dress, well it was love at first sight..enough said! : )

I also went to a cute store called Tris and got a Free People dress and Tris romper!

I love the eaze of the Free People dress and back tie detail, and the print and open back of the romper!

Here are some more photos from my trip : )
